Introduction

Natural disasters are occurring more frequently across the globe causing devastating impacts on local communities and their way of life.   International SOS supports the Australian Government and Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) response to such disasters by protecting the health and welfare of aid workers and volunteers on assignment.

In the face of humanitarian disasters we are able to rapidly deploy teams of medical, security and logistics specialists.  Our teams assess the medical and security risks and evacuation options for those impacted by the disaster.  Our evacuation response is coordinated through our Sydney Assistance Centre.

We also support the Australian Government and NGOs in their response to pandemics.  From the SARS outbreak in 2003 through to the more recent Ebola and Zika outbreaks we have assisted our Government and NGO clients in developing pandemic preparedness plans to support their overall business continuity and risk mitigation efforts.  Our internationally acclaimed online portals  provide up to date information on, and analysis of emerging infectious disease outbreaks including news feeds to see what’s occurring around the world; the locations of incidents displayed on a map; and the tracking of emerging details on new infectious diseases.
